Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
Bingo Tutors (“Bingo Tutors”, “we”, “us”) provides online tutoring to students across Canada. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Inquiry and booking information: when you use our contact, consultation, parent, student or teacher forms, we collect what you provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, province or territory, and details about the student (for example first name, grade, subjects and learning goals).
- Tutor applications: name, contact details, qualifications, experience, availability, and any links you share. If we move forward, we may also ask for references. If a tutor applicant completes a background check, we keep the result, with their consent, only to decide whether they can tutor with us.
- Tutoring information: if you become a client, scheduling details, session notes, feedback about progress that parents ask for or tutors share, and payment records.
- Technical information: our web server automatically records basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and the date and time of visits. Form submissions include the sender’s IP address to help us prevent spam.
- Advertising measurement: our website uses the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which sets cookies such as
_fbpand records page visits, clicks on our WhatsApp and phone links, call bookings and form submissions. Our site only tells Meta which kind of form was sent, never your message. Meta’s pixel may also collect contact details you enter, such as your email or phone number, in scrambled (hashed) form to match ad results.
2. Children’s information
Many of our students are minors. We collect information about children only from their parent or legal guardian, or, for students aged 13 to 17, together with a parent or guardian’s contact details. We do not knowingly accept inquiries directly from children under 13. We collect only what we need to provide tutoring, and we do not use children’s information for marketing. A parent or guardian may ask to see, correct or delete their child’s information at any time.
3. How we use information
- To respond to inquiries and arrange consultations and demo classes
- To match students with suitable tutors and deliver tutoring sessions
- To share feedback about a student’s progress that parents ask for or tutors share
- To assess tutor applications and review tutors
- To process payments and keep business records
- To contact you by WhatsApp or SMS, only if you agree to this on our form
- To send our newsletter, only if you subscribe (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- To measure how well our online ads work (Meta Pixel)
- To keep our website secure and prevent spam and abuse
We will not use your information for a new purpose without telling you and, where required, asking for your consent.
4. Consent
By submitting a form or using our services, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your information as described in this policy. If you share information about a child, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian. You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits, by contacting us; this may affect our ability to provide services.
5. Sharing information
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only:
- with the tutor assigned to a student, limited to what they need to teach;
- with service providers who help us run our business, such as our website hosting and email provider, scheduling tools (for example Calendly), video-conferencing and messaging tools (for example Zoom, Google Meet or WhatsApp) and payment processors, who may use it only to provide services to us;
- with Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram), which receives the Meta Pixel information described in section 1 to measure our ads and handles it under its own privacy policy;
- when required by law, or to protect the safety of a student or others.
6. Where information is stored
Bingo Tutors is an online business. Our team and tutors work remotely, including from outside Canada (for example, Pakistan), and some of our service providers store or process information in other countries, including the United States. When information is accessed or stored outside Canada, it is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its authorities. We share only what is needed and take reasonable steps to make sure it is protected.
7. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. Inquiries that do not lead to tutoring are generally deleted within 24 months. Unsuccessful tutor applications are generally deleted within 12 months.
8. Safeguards
We use reasonable physical, organizational and technical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections on our website and limiting access to staff and tutors who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada of any breach that creates a real risk of significant harm, as PIPEDA requires.
9. Your rights
You may ask to access the personal information we hold about you (or your child), ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent. We will respond within 30 days. To make a request, contact our privacy contact below.
10. Cookies
See our Cookie Notice for information about cookies and similar technologies, including the Meta Pixel. You can opt out by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings, and you can control how Meta uses your activity for ads in your Meta ad preferences.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows when it was last changed.
